Juvenile Unit

The Burlington Police Department has a Detective dedicated to juvenile investigations. The Juvenile Detective works with local youth service agencies, schools, and the Courts to better provide services to juveniles and their families. The Juvenile Detective also investigates and follows-up on reported cases of abuse and neglect, runaways, and delinquencies. BPD refers cases to Family Court for prosecution or to the Community Justice Center for a restorative justice alternative.

The Juvenile Detective works closely with investigators from the Department for Children and Families to check, maintain and monitor the welfare of our children. We as a Department are committed to the youth of our community and actively look for ways to work in partnership with young people. If you have questions about juveniles and crime, the Family Court system as it relates to juveniles, or any other topic, please call (802) 658-2704, x263 and speak with Detective Kimberly Edwards.
