Drug Unit

NoDrugs

The Burlington Police Department dedicates several detectives to the detection of drug use/sales/possession and enforcement of State and Federal Drug laws. These detectives have many tools at their disposal and work cooperatively with other local police agencies and Federal Law Enforcement in their Burlington Field Offices.

Numerous arrests are made every year in connection with heroin, cocaine, marijuana and other drugs. Seizures of weapons and currency are also common. With drug use/sales and possession often come weapons and violence and BPD is committed to using as many resources as possible to proactively take enforcement action and arrest/incarcerate offenders in our community.

Drug Activity

Actions that may be considered suspicious and may indicate drug use/sales/possession include the following:

*High volumes of foot traffic/vehicles making short trips to and from
                         the residence
*Frequent trips out of state for short periods of time
*Suspect seems to have money/items/car that is beyond his/her income level
*Suspect associates with known drug users/dealers
