Launched in 2001, the BPD Bike Patrol puts police officers on high tech mountain bikes in and around Burlington’s downtown streets.  Bike Patrol officers can respond more quickly to calls in the downtown, and increases the department’s community outreach efforts.  Bicycles and equipment made possible through Pomerleau Real Estate and the Queen City Police Foundation.

During the past few years, the Burlington Police Department Downtown Team has developed an excellent bicycle patrol. The purpose of the bicycle patrol is to do the following:

Increase police visibility Downtown

Supplement the downtown patrol

Waterfront/Marketplace/Downtown = flexibility & mobility

Provide Spring through Fall coverage on the Marketplace
